| Welcome to Native Doors Networking Ctr |
|
| NDNS was formed to address the low academic performance of Native American students. The plan is modeled after the federally funded Native American program for public schools and Tribal governments. Due to the reduced funding many school districts have dropped the programs. Using the long established federal programs as a model with modifications, a new plan has been established for students in Santa Clara Valley. Working with the whole family and providing successful activities the students become better students furthermore the families become stronger thus building a stronger community. | | A vital part of the program design is to make use of the Native American Students from Stanford University. Their presence and willingness to mentor and tutor the participating students makes a very positive impact on the families providing excellent role models and examples of leadership. They are the elite of young Native American students. All participants feel they have ownership in this project. The model is further enhanced because the new location for NDNS will be part of the low income housing development. | NDNS is part of a new housing development. It will contain 218 apartments. The program is responsible for building expenses $270,000.00 as well as operating expenses. | | | | Native American | | Native Doors Networking Senter is a non profit 501 c3 business. It was started to provide academic assistance and cultural retention for Native American youth. It is modeled after programs started by the federal government when they first began. We emphasize understanding of tasks they are expected to learn. | Tutoring Mentoring | | So much emphasis is place on students to succeed academically by society. Our program provides assistance whether the students are at the top of the class or at the bottom, it does not matter to us.The Native American Students from Stanford University continue to help with tutoring and mentoring. They are a valuable part of our program we welcome volunteers. |
